The GSO is committed to offering affordable, accessible, innovative and high quality symphonic music for Guelph area residents; from young families and students, to the vibrant retired community. We were thrilled with the over-whelming and heartfelt response to last season’s outreach costumed performances of Saint Saens’ charming Carnival of the Animals!
On Sunday January 15th at 3pm, musicians of the GSO will present Prokofiev’s engaging Peter and the Wolf at the Guelph Civic Museum catering to young families with narrator, Joe Ringhofer. Admission to both the concert and to the Museum that afternoon, will be free.
Each character in this story is represented by a different instrument; Peter by the strings, the bird by the flute, the duck by the oboe, the cat by the clarinet and the wolf by the french horn.
This concert will also be presented at Arbour Trails. It is important for us to also reach out to older audiences, as many of our 1st generation of GSO supporters are now living in retirement communities or in assisted living, making it difficult for them to come to River Run Centre for our regular concerts.
